Chamaerops humilis, is commonly known as the Fan Palm. A bushy evergreen palm, often stemless or multi-stemmed, with a rounded mass of fan-shaped leaves to 45cm in length. Short rigid panicles of small yellow flowers are borne on mature plants only. This palm species will thrive in milder coastal and southern areas with proper care and protection during cold spells (more than -10C). It can be grownin full sun or light shade in well drained soil. It is also ideal in a large statement pot.
